Quang Pham

Quang Pham received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia in 2015. His current research focuses on nanostructure and microporous media for two-phase heat transfer. He is supported by the Departmental Fellowship and Federal Work Study Fellowship. He is working at Northrop Grumman (2020).


Jonggyu Lee

Jonggyu Lee received his B.S. and M.S. both in Environmental Material Science from Seoul National University.  His research interests lie in the fabrication methods of innovative nanostructures for thermal management. He was supported by the Departmental Fellowship. He received his Ph.D in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UC Irvine in 2021. He is working for Samsung Electronics since Fall of 2021.

Kimia Montazeri received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and M.S. in Renewable Energies from the University of Tehran, Iran. Her research is focused on numerical methods and computational algorithms for multiphase flow analysis within nanoscale porous structures. She is supported by the Departmental Fellowship. She is working for Tesla (2021)

Cheng-Hui Lin received his B.S.in Mechanical Engineering from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taiwan in 2011, and M.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from National Taiwan University, Taiwan in 2013. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in UC Irvine. His research focuses the development of new porous structures and their hydraulic resistance characterization. He is supported by the National Chung Shan Institute of Science & Technology Fellowship

Anhthu (Annie) Dinh received her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach in 2021. She is currently pursuing her M.S. in Biomedical Engineering at UC Irvine. Her current research interests include image processing and using machine learning for image recognition with cell images.

Master MSE 2017. Pranav Dubey received his B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering from the College of Engineering, Pune in 2015 and his MS in Materials Science and Engineering from UCI. His research focuses on controlling copper surfaces’ wetting behaviors. Now he is working for Intel.


Bowen Shao

Bowen Shao received his B.E. in Material Science and Engineering from the Southeast University, Nanjing, China in 2016. His current research focuses on anti-frost and self-clean performance of superhydrophobic surface and improvement of nano-structured materials via electrochemical methods. He is pursuing his Ph.D. degree at RPI.

Shuai Hao received his B.E. in Thermal Energy and Power Engineering from Sichuan University, Chengdu, China in 2016. His current research focuses on numerical analysis for two-phase flow including phase change phenomena in porous media and bubble behavior in the nucleate boiling regime.

Shiwei Zhang received his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from the South China University of Technology, China in 2017. He was a visiting student at Columbia University from 2015 to 2017 supported by a national fellowship from China. He studied nano/micro-structure-based boiling heat transfer and nanoscale interfacial properties by using molecular dynamics simulations in Won lab.

Mario Soler is an Undergraduate Chemical Engineering student at UC Irvine. His current research focuses on utilizing different methods to obtain data in analyzing the wettability of nano-structured surfaces. He is a project manager for an Undergraduate Project called Chem-E-Car where students design and build a car that runs and stops based on chemical reactions.

Kush Thukral is an Undergraduate in Chemical Engineering, with two minors: Material science Engineering, and Business Management. His research focuses on the preparation of the copper substrates for nanostructuring processes. He is completing his term on the Executive Board of the only Co-Ed Professional engineering fraternity on campus: Theta Tau. He also Is spearheading a High School Outreach program: “Samueli Academy”.

Ellie Duong Vy Le is currently a 4th year Chemical Engineering undergraduate. She is the 2017-2018 President of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers at UCI. She is also a member of the Engineers for Sustainable World and Chem-E-Car. Her research focuses on the evaporative heat transfer phenomena using nanostructured surfaces.
